HOPE for Pets

HOPE for Pets is a 501(C)3 non-profit organization.  We are dedicated to improving the lives of stray, shelter and companion animals in Bullitt County, Ky.  Our programs are designed to eliminate pet overpopulation and provide assistance for pet care needs to the elderly, low-income and special need members of our community.  We also offer educational programs and material regarding responsible pet ownership.

The Bullitt County Medical Reserve Corps is a Nationally Chartered Unit with the Office of the Surgeon General of the United States.

The mission of the Bullitt County MRC is to strengthen community preparedness and response to public health emergencies, both natural and man-made, through the formation of a volunteer base of trained medical and non-medical community residents.

Our unit has 22 members, comprised of RNs, LPNs, EMTs, clergy and 3 Pharmacists. The work experience is in hospitals, long term care facilities, doctor’s offices and some businesses. We invite non-medical people to join and be trained on aspects of running a point of dispensing (i.e.patient flow, parking issues and stocking of materials), shelter support, and other disaster related response activities.

Bullitt County Extension Homemakers

The Extension Homemakers organization partners with the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service to provide educational programs, leadership activities, and community development in Bullitt County.  There are 4 traditional clubs and 4 special interest clubs (sewing, quilting, cooking and crafts). They volunteer throughout the county serving various groups and local citizens. They are a part of the largest international organization: Associated Country Women of the World.
