Bullitt County Emergency Management Agency

Emergency Management shares the Governor’s vision to coordinate a system of mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery and protect the lives, environment, and property of the people of Kentucky.

KYEM is a division of the Kentucky Department of Military Affairs and its role and function are governed by legislative action as dictated in Chapter 39A-F of the Kentucky Revised Statutes.

Although state and local governments are ready to assist the public during times of emergencies and disasters, preparedness starts at home. In the event of large-scale disasters, it may take time to respond immediately.

The Bullitt County Medical Reserve Corps is a Nationally Chartered Unit with the Office of the Surgeon General of the United States.

The mission of the Bullitt County MRC is to strengthen community preparedness and response to public health emergencies, both natural and man-made, through the formation of a volunteer base of trained medical and non-medical community residents.

Our unit has 22 members, comprised of RNs, LPNs, EMTs, clergy and 3 Pharmacists. The work experience is in hospitals, long term care facilities, doctor’s offices and some businesses. We invite non-medical people to join and be trained on aspects of running a point of dispensing (i.e.patient flow, parking issues and stocking of materials), shelter support, and other disaster related response activities.
